Why Interactive Team Workshops Are Essential

Running an early years setting requires constant adaptation to shifting regulatory standards, evolving child needs, and room dynamics. While statutory training like Paediatric First Aid and basic Safeguarding keeps your setting legally compliant, targeted team workshops bridge the critical gap between knowing the guidance and applying it on the floor.

  • Translating Theory into Practice: Theory alone doesn't prevent room dysregulation or manage complex SEND needs. Interactive workshops give staff concrete strategies, real-world scenario practice, and co-regulation tools they can use the very next day.
  • Boosting Staff Retention & Confidence: High practitioner turnover often stems from feeling overwhelmed and under-supported. Investing in meaningful professional development builds team confidence, reduces burnout, and fosters a unified setting culture.
  • Elevating Inspection Readiness: When inspectors evaluate your setting's Quality of Education and Leadership & Management, they look at how effectively staff articulate practice. Shared team training ensures every practitioner speaks the same language.

How Many CPD Hours

Should Early Years

Practitioners Complete?

While the UK statutory EYFS framework does not mandate a rigid "capped number" of annual CPD hours, it statutorily requires setting leaders to provide continuous training, coaching, and supervision to ensure practitioners remain competent and up to date.

To maintain high-quality practice and meet inspection expectations, early years sector best practice recommends:

Full-Time Practitioners:   20–30 Hours per year
Room Leaders & SENCos:     30–40 Hours per year
Setting Leaders & Managers: 40+ Hours per year
